Spring Booster Programme 2024

A national Coronavirus (Covid-19) spring vaccination booster programme is soon to be underway across the UK.

Patients will only be eligible for booster vaccination if they are immunosuppressed or aged 75 or over. If you are currently aged 74 but turning 75 by 30th June 2024 then you are also eligible for vaccination.

  • We are committed to offering all eligible patients a vaccination. All eligible patients will be contacted personally by text message or letter and invited to book an appointment.
  • The booster programme is going to be spread across the months of May and June 2024.

Your usual GP and the Department of Health recommend that you have this vaccination in order to gain best protection against coronavirus. We would therefore strongly advise that you book an appointment for vaccination.

Appointments will be bookable via mobile phone for those that have one. Alternatively patients can contact their registered surgery by telephone. Our phone lines are extremely busy. If you need to book by telephone please only contact us after 11am Tuesday to Friday.

All vaccination appointments will be provided at the Whitstable Health Centre, CT5 1BZ. Appointments will take place on Saturdays which we know to be convenient for the majority of patients. This is the only way we can deliver the vaccination programme without compromising our routine appointments.

The national vaccine of choice for this programme is Moderna, Spikevax XBB. All patients will receive this vaccine unless advised otherwise.  Information for healthcare professionals and the public about the adapted Spikevax XBB.1.5 vaccine

We strongly recommend you attend the practice for vaccination as we have access to your full medical records. Patients are however welcome to book at an alternative facility if this is their wish by visiting the National Booking Service

If you are going to book a vaccination with us please read the important instructions below so that you are prepared for your appointment

  • You will not be able to drive for 15 minutes after vaccination. To help reduce traffic congestion, please be chauffeured to your appointment or arrive via public transport if this is possible.
  • On entering the surgery for your vaccination appointment , please ensure that coats and jumpers are off and that your chosen sleeve is rolled all the way up
  • Masks are optional. We will ensure good airflow in all areas at all times.

Do not attend a Coronavirus vaccination appointment if:

  • You have had a covid vaccination in the last 3 months
  • You are unwell and/or believe you could be infectious to others
